First and foremost an innovator, designer, and leather craftsman extraordinaire. Discovering a method of how to convert his passion for traditional leather craft, with a healthy dose of eccentric boudoir couture and his natural born adeptness for turning natural leather skins into a commercially viable venture in the early 1990’s, his designs have become a recognised brand in their own right.
Collaborating with some of the biggest fashion designers and international couture houses in the world to create catwalk pieces, Seville is a key player in the industry; he has worked with Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and Victoria’s Secrets to name a few.
Fashioning new textures and techniques for dyeing, moulding, etching and carving into leather, Paul created his signature winning formula. Paul initially designed and produced hand carved & moulded Bespoke corsets and bustiers before working by hand creating leather furniture for shop interiors. His absolute love for corsetry along with his skills as a tailor, are integral in the success, in particular the intricacy and detailed construction methods. Blending old-school leather craftsmanship and couture, Seville concocts a delicious mix of exotic skins, including snakeskin and stingray, sterling silver & Swarovski crystals, his pieces are regulars at the Paris industry shows.
One of a kind, Seville stands alone with his art; where he succeeds in his individuality and where many have attempted to imitate, he incorporates old traditional leather craft tools and techniques to create an exceptional signature style, which is 100% exclusive to the brand. Seville was the originator in luxury erotica, In fact, Paul Seville was the first designer to produce a range of luxury leather intimate boudoir accessories; his early collections and product lines helped to create the market & genre for this type of commodity; the ‘boudoir and intimate’ collections form the main body of the brand.
Award-winning textile designer and with an MA in fashion from the Royal College of Art, Steph Aman pushes the boundaries via her distinctive design technique which has won her world-wide acclaim including a host of accolades from international fashion houses such as Armani, Vera Wang and Calvin Klein.
Working some serious magic with her beloved Irish embroidery machine – which is over a century old – Aman creates her handfinished, exceptionally delicate, signature products using a needle and thread, industry experts have likened her practice to free hand-drawing onto silk. Aman blends her own essence of an exotic, erotic and elegant mix of innocence with something rather dark, curious and surreal, to each of her creations. Inspired by ancient fairytales and bizarre folklore, her creations are dedicated to and incredibly passionate about super fine, luxuriously delicate textile design, her Anglo-American heritage lends her creations something refreshing, impossible to put a finger on until you see the piece in the flesh. Each piece has a darker side than initially assumed; sensuous and delicate designs on first look, but take a closer look and you shall find something you hadn’t spotted before.
A sensory overload of magical luxury extraordinaire, Gallery 58 is a modern-day pleasure dome. A chance meeting in 2008 led to the creation of the refreshingly unconventional and unpredictable British luxury collective; founders Steph Aman and Paul Seville who were already highly accomplished designers in their own right, both relishing in the unexpected, seamlessly managed to blend their expertise, fusing textile design with high fashion, technical design knowhow with old-school couturier training, via their delightfully dark, raw fantasy world mind-set.
Married a year after their first meeting, Gallery 58 is a blend of life, love and work. Collections from Gallery 58 feature tailor-made premium leather accessories and super fine, ornate and fabulously feminine lingerie and boudoir frills. Very much an ‘in the industry’ brand, G58 is known for its surreal, bizarre and seriously unforgettable fashion and music collaborations, prop hire, magnificent window-displays and sets for television, film or commercials or for wonderfully unconventional and unorthodox home interiors; be it burlesque, theatrical, performing arts, leather corsets or props beyond your wildest dreams, contact Gallery 58 direct for a private appointment. The exceptional designs are recognised across the world and hunted down by fashion trendsetters and trend-makers, including Madonna for the corsets on her MDNA tour and for Angelina Jolie in the Disney movie, Malificient, while the designers have independently collaborated with couture gurus from Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Vera Wang, Calvin Klein to Antonio Baradi at Exte & Vivienne Westwood, to name but a few.
Each creation captures the designers’ deliciously decadent and debauched design palette, along with their Irish and Anglo-American heritage. An unexpected and unconventional commercial success story, Aman and Seville have quite literally turned boudoir chic on its head. Just think of it as Jacobean high drama, meets Victoriana macabre.
Designing straight from the soul, they craft unpredictable concoctions that capture the senses and which really shouldn’t work.
