Description

Silhouette & Style of Gown: Semi fitted silk tulle evening gown with chiffon embroidered appliqué. Ankle length at front tapering into extra long double layer train at centre back.

The nature of this style coupled with with the natural characteristic of the silk tulle fabric allow for a degree of movement & comfort & afford the wearer the feeling of a ‘second skin’ creating an elegant & flattering silhouette.                                                                                                                                                             

The Double Train: The bottom layer train is created in embroidered silk tulle and is 150cm in length from the heel of the foot.

The Width of the bottom layer is 250cm.

The embroidery design featured on the bottom layer is ‘Death Moth’  The detachable top layer train adds volume to the silhouette and is created in embroidered silk chiffon with detailed cut work by hand, it extends 70cm beyond the heel of the foot. The Width of the top layer is 150cm.

The embroidery design featured on the top layer is ‘Old Rose’ with detailed floral cut work.                                        

Closures & Fitting: The gown is fastened at the back of the neck in a halter neck style with adjustable satin tie straps. The gown is fastened down the centre back with satin covered buttons and loops. The detachable top layer silk chiffon train is attached to the gown and draped from the bottom of the centre back opening. This top layer train is detachable & the gown can be worn with or without.

The Embroideries: ‘Death Moth’ is one of the most detailed and creative free hand drawn embroideries from the Steph Aman portfolio. The free hand-drawn embroidery is created with silk chiffon appliqué. The shadow work & detailing is created with embroidering on 2 layers of silk and finishing with intricate cut work by hand. The embroidered Skeleton moths are featured in varying sizes and scattered throughout the train & lower part of the gown. The ‘Death Moth’ embroidery process takes in excess of 160 hours.     

‘Old Rose’ embroidery design with detailed all over floral cut work. This design is based on a classic English Rose, created with free hand drawn embroidery. The process of free hand drawn embroidery involves free machining on the silk to create the design, the same way an artist would sketch with pen & paper. The design is then cut out by hand.

The ‘Old Rose’ embroidery process takes in excess of 20 hours
